Light up the Lake at Navy Pier celebrates the holidays in Chicago.
New in 2021, Festival Hall is transformed into a winter wonderland and becomes the biggest indoor, temperature-controlled light garden.
Here’s your guide to one of the season’s most popular family-friendly activities in Chicago.
Navy Pier Light Up The Lake
Light Up The Lake is a new event that celebrates winter and the holidays.
Entirely inside, the festival offers several activities and the hall is decorated with candy canes, Christmas trees, and lights galore.
There are 170,000 square feet to fill in Festival Hall, and they are jam-packed with fun. Activities include an ice skating rink, kiddie train rides, a gift market, Merry Main Street presented by Brach’s, and a holiday beer garden.
The hall is decorated with more than 600,000 lights, making Light Up The Lake the largest indoor Christmas lights show in the area.
If you plan on going ice skating you should be aware that no bags are allowed on the rink. While there is a coat check, you cannot check your bags. If you plan on bringing a purse or backpack bring someone who can hold it for you while you skate.
