Rosemont’s Pearl District Welcomes The Rose Hotel

The Rose Hotel in the Pearl District of Rosemont held a “Topping Off” ceremony on Tuesday, May 20.  Traditionally, a “topping out” or “topping off” is a builders’ rite traditionally held when the last beam is placed atop a structure during its construction.  While the construction is only 2/3 of the way finished, local dignitaries, members of the construction and hospitality teams and the media donned hard hats to celebrate the work that has been done so far.

The Rose Hotel is the first “ground up” hotel from the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, the boutique collection of hotels from Hilton Worldwide.  Mary Peduzzi, senior director brand performance, from Hilton Worldwide was on hand to celebrate.  The first Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel, Hotel Skyler Syracuse, was opened a year ago in a converted synagogue.  Since then, five other Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotels have opened around the US.  But The Rose Hotel is the first to be freshly constructed from the ground up.

The five-story, 165-room development includes 5,000 square feet of high performance meeting space, state-of-the -art fitness center, complimentary airport shuttle and more.  The hotel will also offer food options and a full-service bar.

The Pearl District is the latest area in the ever-expanding Rosemont entertainment district.  Rosemont Mayor Bradley Stephens talked about the addition of The Rose Hotel to the area, which includes Dave & Busters, Carmine’s, operated by Rosebud Restaurants founder Alex Dana, and Truluck’s Seafood Steak & Crab House, which has 11 locations in Texas, Florida and California.  Adjacent to the area is the Fashion Outlets of Chicago. Additionally, the Pearl District includes Impact Field, a 6,300-seat stadium which will be the home of the Chicago Dogs, Chicago’s independent baseball team.  Opening day is May 25.

General Manager of The Rose Hotel is Micaela Haas, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina.  She has been in the hospitality business for 16 years, coming to Chicago by way of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  Wearing a rose-colored hard hat at the Topping Off ceremony, Haas sees The Rose Hotel, the closest non-airport hotel to O’Hare International Airport, as an opportunity to reach international travelers.  “Traveling can be thorny.  Thankfully, we have The Rose.”

The Rose Hotel (9800 Farragut Avenue, Rosemont, IL) is scheduled to open in November 2018.
