Thinking about joining a gym? Before you put down a hefty chunk of change, take advantage of a free week at Chicago Park District Fitness Centers.
Every year, the Chicago Park District opens up its fitness centers to everyone at no fee, so you can try before you buy. There are locations all over the city.
In addition to cardio and strength training equipment, they’ve also got classes. Take spin, yoga, pilates and kickboxing classes and you can learn about nutrition. Classes include:
- Fitness Boot Camp
- Small Group Personal Training
- Cardio Conditioning
Parents will be relieved to find out the Chicago Park District Fitness Centers have family friendly options, too. If you’re interested in aquatic fitness, many of the fitness centers also have lap swim times.
This year’s free week at Chicago Park District Fitness Centers starts a little early, so you can get a jump start on those resolutions. You can sweat it out between December 30, 2019 and January 4, 2020.

If you choose to sign up after taking advantage of the free workout facilities, fees start at just $10 a month, and you can get one month, three month, and annual subscriptions.
If you purchase a Gold Card for $80 you’ll have access to all fitness centers city-wide for three months. An annual Gold Card is just $200.
TLTip: Before signing up, check the hours of your closest fitness center. Some of them are closed on weekends, which may be inconvenient.
