I scream, you scream, we all scream for “National Ice Cream Day!” July 15 is dedicated to the cool treat. As far as food holidays go, this has to be one of our favorites, so we’ve got five creamy and delicious ways for you to celebrate National Ice Cream Day in Chicago.

1) Taste the Rainbow – Cone, that is
Since 1926, the Original Rainbow Cone has been serving up its special blend of color confections. It’s one of Chicago’s oldest ice cream shops and a favorite at Taste of Chicago. Located near 95th and Western, the south side shop is open today from noon to 10pm. They’ve also got an outpost on Navy Pier.

2) Visit your neighborhood ice cream shop
Chicago neighborhoods are dotted with local ice cream parlors. From Bobtail Ice Cream in Lakeview, Black Dog Gelato in the Gold Coast, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream with four Chicago locations, use this as an opportunity to explore a new neighborhood.
3) Celebrate at home with Mitchell’s Ice Cream
Mitchell’s Ice Cream is another long-time favorite. Since 1931 they’ve been scooping their decadent ice creams. Fortunately, you don’t have to go to Homewood; you can pick some up at Jewel-Osco, Caputo’s, Tony’s Finer Foods, and other grocery stores.
4) Free cones at McDonald’s, BOGO at Baskin-Robbins
Download the fast food chain’s mobile app and you’ll find an offer for a free cone. Not enough? You can also download Baskin-Robbin’s app and they’ll give you a bunch of offers, including buy one get one cones, 99-cent sundaes, and more.

5) Booze it up at Eleven City Diner
Turn that childhood sweet into an adult treat with a Liquored Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake at Eleven City Diner. Made with Stillhouse Mint Chip Whiskey and mint chocolate chip ice cream, it’s an indulgence for your taste buds and your liver.
