There is a new restaurant in town and it’s tasteful, fresh and fun and can satisfy the taste buds of anyone! The Grill House opened its doors recently and I was given the opportunity to sample their fare for dinner with the owner, Louis Liagridonis.
This restaurant is easy to find. The Grill House is located in Northbrook in the White Plains Shopping Center on Dundee Road, west of Pfingsten Road. You’ll see their eye-catching signage going east or westbound, that reads “Grill House – Real Fresh Taste.”
The Grill House is not your typical “fast food” joint. Their food is never pre-cooked, always fresh and prepared to your liking. Liagridonis says, the “Grill House is the home of great taste with homemade recipes,” and you can truly taste the difference. The Grill House brings you the highest quality ingredients.
Upon entering the restaurant, you’re surrounded with a clean, cozy atmosphere where you walk down a small hall adorned with fresh flowers and plants, and at the end of the hall, you’ll see the light… of their extensive menu on a light board. Plus, you’re greeted with a smile as their employee takes your order.
Their menu is enormous, if you don’t believe me, check it out HERE. They have globally inspired cuisine from Greece, Italy, the Middle East, good ol’ American food and more. They’ve got salads of any kind, gyros, wraps, burgers, hot dogs, grinders, falafel, steaks, ribs, pastas, the list goes on and on. Even the pickiest of eaters, like myself, will find plenty of options to pick their perfect meal.
Plus, they have the Coca-Cola Freestyle soft drink machine, where you can create 100+ drink choices.
I attended dinner with my friends Marcy and Karen. I’m a vegetarian, so these two gal pals were my meat taste testers.
For starters, we chose the hummus and saganaki sticks (fried cheese). Those were delicious, I’ve never been a fan of saganaki, but their appetizer was absolutely incredible. My mouth is watering thinking about it. The hummus also made me happy because it was so fresh and the pita bread served with it was wonderful.
Before my entrée arrived, I chose to have a traditional garden salad with ranch dressing. The crisp, cold lettuce and their creamy ranch sauce was very refreshing after having the saganaki sticks.
Entrée time arrived and I opted for their falafel sandwich that had homemade falafel served on a pita with lettuce, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce on the side. Let me tell you I can completely vouch for the fact that this restaurant is true to their word with fresh food. Every time I’ve had a falafel sandwich elsewhere, I end up getting some sort of heartburn. Well, with Grill House’s falafel, I never had any issues because it was so fresh and so good.
Marcy had the skirt steak dinner that came with a 12 oz skirt steak with Greek potatoes over a bed of rice pilaf, fresh vegetable garnish, garlic bread and a salad. Marcy thoroughly enjoyed her meal and it smelled great.
Karen had the chicken souvlaki plate that contained 2 skewers of tender chicken pieces with onions, green and red peppers, served with tzatziki sauce on the side. She thought the chicken was moist and the entire dish was delicious. So much came with her meal that she took half of it home with her to have for lunch the next day.
Even though our bellies were full, the owner Lou said we must try their dessert. So we made some room and enjoyed his freshly-made baklava and rice pudding.
The baklava pastry was rich and was baked just right. It had finely chopped nuts and was held together with a sweet honey syrup. I must admit that I am not a fan of rice pudding, at all, but there’s something about the Grill House’s way that I am only a fan of their rice pudding. I could eat a big bowl of that stuff. The texture was perfect, it was milky, sweet and the perfect touch to complete our incredible dining experience. Everything I tried had a great made-from-scratch taste and was very pleasing to my palate.
The Grill House has a menu for the kids, they also have family packs where you could get a variety pack of food for your family at a very affordable price. They also cater, so consider this place to feed your next event whether it’s a birthday party, corporate event, bridal or baby shower… they have food to please all of your attendees.
They also have a new loyalty rewards program that you can join at the restaurant where you’ll get a $10 Grill House gift card for every 10 visits.
The Grill House is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 am – 9 pm and on Sunday from 11 am – 9 pm. Visit them online at www.EatGrillHouse.com.
